Welcome to the Belmont High School Class of 1959 website! We are getting to the time of life where we need to connect to our old friends. We went through some great times together, a unique time in everyone's life. I know I've been wondering about some of my friends from High School that I haven't seen since I left Belmont.

A Tale of two Websites

Actually, we have two websites. This one is read-only. If you send me stuff I'll post it. I think it would be fun for everyone to publish a short (or long, for that matter) bio on what you have been up to. Pictures of yourself, family, pets, hobbies, etc would also be great. And maybe best of all, pictures from the time we were in school! Send them to me and I'll post them here.

Alternatively, we also have a site at myfamily.com. That's an interactive site, where we can all post pictures, events, notes, bios, whatever. It's a secure site, so it will also have a list of everyone we have found. To get a username/password for the BHS59 myfamily.com site, drop me an email.

Both websites are free.

Party May 16, 2009!

We had another great party at Dot's on May 16, 2009. The weather held out for us with no rain, so we were able to use both the house and the patio area. Attendance was somewhat less than in recent years because of the up-coming 50th Reunion. Everyone there had a wonderful time!

Linda Beach Johnston sent these thoughts to share:

Dear BHS Classmates, It had been 45 years since I had seen my Belmont High School classmates. I had read about the May reunion parties at Dottie’s. I was always too busy or too far away. My husband died suddenly last September and I decided to move back to Massachusetts. For the first time I could attend Dottie’s Party. I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about seeing old classmates. I wasn’t particularly popular in high school. I didn’t hang around with the “in” group. I wasn’t a cheerleader or, come to think of it, a leader at all. Just thinking about going to that party brought back all those old insecurities. To top it off, I looked in the mirror and saw a sixty-six year old woman. That was enough by itself to keep me from going. Well, I did it. I hope I can convince you that you will make one of the biggest mistakes you’ll ever make in your life if you miss the 50th reunion. This will be the last of the official reunions. Let me just tell you why you don’t want to miss it. There are no more “clicks”. Nobody has anything to prove to anyone. We are just a bunch of people who have a shared place in each others history. This is really as much about meeting new friends as it is about connecting with old ones. Please don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity. I promise you that you’ll never regret it. I know I’m looking forward to seeing you. Linda Beach Johnston

Alumni and Friend of BHS We have joined with other BHS classes to provide scholarships for graduating BHS students in need of support for their continued education. Please check out the AFBHS,org website!

50th Reunion It's coming! This is our chance to get everyone together for the 50th Reunion, October 2-4, 2009. The Reunion Committee will send more news on this soon.

Class Contact Lists There has been a lot of effort (documented elsewhere) devoted to developing an up-to-date list for the entire Class of 59. Because this is a public site we can't publish contact information here, but we do have lists of names, both found and missing. If you want the contact info for someone we have, or you have info for someone we're missing, please contact us.

Then and Now Pictures We have some new "Then and Now" Photos: Richard Sawyer, Edna Chen, Sandy Spring,Ken Whiteacre and Linda Beach. This has been a lot of fun! We now have FIVE pages of Then and Now photos. Roll your mouse over the yearbook photo to see a current picture. In most cases click to see more current pictures. Elementary School Pictures We didn't just meet when we got to High School! We thought it would be fun to look at some pictures from Elementary School. The Chenery pictures are from Bill Callahan. Natalie Pascoe supplied the Winn Brook Picture. Sue also scanned our Junior High Picture. We also have St. Joseph 1955 from Bob Wicks, and Kendall from Barbara Johnson and Carol Magrath Morse.
